Creating a Video / Telemedicine Appointment
TouchPoints.health allows you to undertake secure video consultations directly within the platform, without the need for third party video tools.
Setting up virtual appointments
To use video or telephone consultations, virtual appointments must first be enabled in the relevant calendar. This is done in Calendar Setup. As long as the calendar is configured to offer virtual appointments, video and telephone options will be available when booking appointments.
Creating a video appointment
When creating a new appointment, either from the patient profile or directly from the calendar, select the patient name and appointment date as usual. You will then see the Appointment Type option.
Select Online, which will present two choices:
Video appointment
Telephone appointment
If Video appointment is selected, the appointment will be created as a secure video consultation.
What the patient receives
Once the video appointment is booked, the patient will automatically receive an email containing their secure video link. This link can be opened on a mobile phone, tablet, or computer.
The same video link is also automatically sent to the patient again 24 hours before the appointment.
What the clinician sees
Five minutes before the scheduled appointment time, a video icon will appear next to the patient’s name on the clinician’s calendar. Clicking this icon will start the video consultation.
Adding additional participants
If a patient wishes to have another person join the consultation who is not physically with them, they can forward the video link from the email. The additional participant can join using the patient’s registered details.
