What is Protected Time

Protected time in TouchPoints.health represents any period when a clinician is unavailable for clinical work.

This may include annual leave, study leave, administrative time, or any other planned time off.

Why protected time is important
When protected time is added, it automatically blocks the ability for appointments to be booked across all linked calendars and clinics. This applies to both online booking and on platform scheduling, helping prevent double booking and availability errors.

Overriding protected time
Protected time can be overridden using an ad hoc booking. This provides flexibility if you need to undertake a one off consultation during a period that would otherwise be unavailable.

Where to manage protected time
Protected time is managed via the calendar icon. When selected, it appears in the left hand pane, where it can be created, viewed, and edited.

Visibility for administrative staff
Protected time ensures that all administrative staff have clear visibility of clinician availability, helping them manage bookings accurately and efficiently.

If you have questions about using protected time or managing clinician availability, please contact support@touchpoints.health for assistance.
