The Patient Portal is a secure, encrypted area where patients can view documents that have been shared with them by their clinic or clinician using TouchPoints.health.
How patients are invited to the Patient Portal
Appointment related emails are sent to the patient’s registered email address as standard. If any documents are shared with a patient, such as a clinic letter or a survey, this automatically triggers a Patient Portal registration email.
The registration email contains a secure encrypted link that is valid for 72 hours. During this time, the patient can create a password and complete their registration to access the Patient Portal.
What patients can see in the Patient Portal
Once registered, patients can view all documents that administrative and clinical users choose to share with them. This may include letters, forms, questionnaires, or other clinical and administrative documents and invoices (self-pay).
Only documents that have been explicitly shared will be visible to the patient.
Note- appointments made in Private Calendars (e.g. theatre/endoscopy lists) do not appear in the patient portal.
Security and confidentiality
The Patient Portal is designed to send confidential information in a secure, encrypted manner. No clinical documents or letters are ever attached to emails.
When a document is shared, patients receive an email containing an encrypted link that takes them directly to their Patient Portal. This approach respects GDPR requirements and provides a high level of security while reducing friction for patients.
Accessing the Patient Portal at any time
Patients do not need to wait for an email to access their portal once they are registered. They can visit

NOTE-
Letters shared via patient portal will display the date the letter was CREATED, not shared in the patient portal so they can match these to their appointments
