Prescribing Access on TouchPoints.health
At TouchPoints.health, patient safety and regulatory compliance are our top priorities.
In line with UK law and professional guidance, only registered doctors and qualified nurse prescribers are authorised to issue prescriptions.
This is supported by:
The Human Medicines Regulations 2012 (SI 2012/1916), which restrict the issue of prescriptions to appropriate prescribers as defined in Regulation 214.
The General Medical Council (GMC) guidance on Good practice in prescribing and managing medicines and devices (2021), which specifies that only those with the legal authority to prescribe should do so.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for nurse and midwife prescribers, confirming that prescribing rights are granted only to those who have completed accredited training and are annotated on the register.
Accordingly, TouchPoints.health does not provide prescription CREATION functionality to Personal Assistant (PA) or administrative accounts. Prescribing access is limited to verified medical professionals with active registration and prescribing rights. This ensures that all prescriptions generated via our platform meet UK regulatory standards and maintain the highest level of clinical governance and patient safety. PA accounts can see issued prescriptions via the patient profile.
